Last night we were finally married and it was a perfectly imperfect day! Stacia did a really good job on planning, despite not having a budget or much time here in Hawaii to put it all together. Despite being held during a rainy time of year, the weather held out extremely well and we could not have scripted it any better.
We both have many, many people to thank for helping to make our wedding day a reality – and such a very special day for both of us. My first thanks go to my Best Man Mr. Ray Hironaka and his wife Patty Yamashiro, who hosted us for the entire trip, had the rehearsal dinner at their house and then allowed us to have the reception at Patty’s mom’s house. Ray even set up a couple of great musicians for the wedding and reception! Ray and Patty have been such great friends to me for so long and I always wonder how I have been so blessed to have them in my life.
I’ll let Stacia make her own thank yous, but we both need to acknowledge the amazing efforts of her Matron of Honor Sarah, her aunty Carole (who made a epic wedding cake and a lot of other great grinds), her dad for all the help setting up and cleaning up, her step-mom Louise who also helped setup and cleanup, as well as taking lots (and lots) of great photos (including many, many selfies as can be seen on her Facebook page). Cousin Peter (Stacia’s Uncle) did a great job blowing the conch – to well all in attendance. Pastor John – also did a great job officiating and was super appreciated! (I was super embarrassed that I gave Stacia the wrong cash to pay him, but she said her dad was going to take care of him – thankful for this, as we always want to be on the right side of God).
I want to thank everyone who made it to the wedding and/or the reception. It was a small, but a really great group of friends and family. We feel so glad that we could share our day with you. Also to be thanked is each and every person who ‘Liked’, commented or otherwise chimed in on any of our many posts on social media. We really appreciate your encouragement and well wishes – A LOT!
BTW – the entire day seemed oh so surreal – and despite waking up with a ring on my finger, I did not believe it was real – until Stacia updated her status and her new name on Facebook ….
I sincerely apologize the likely large number of people that I have forgot to acknowledge. Please know that we do indeed value you and your great support. Mahalos y’all!
